How to set up a Direct Debit for your clients
In recent years the trend with many companies and businesses is to have an ongoing payment scheme whereby clients pay a subscription (Netflix, Amazon Prime, Spotify etc etc), and although I know many self-employed businesses offer this type of service, they struggle to find a good solution to the issue of getting simple ongoing payments setup with clients.
Well through creating Zlogg I have found a very easy way of having your own system for accepting clients’ Direct Debits. Before I go any further I just want to mention there are many ways to have Direct Debits with clients, however this is the method I personally find works best…’Disclaimer’! haha
I personally use ‘GoCardless’ which is an online system that is simply designed to allow you to sign-up and start accepting Direct Debits from your clients – they do all the hard work for you basically. The standard account is 100% free to use, and they only take 1% of all transactions…can you think of any other service out there that only takes 1% of your fee? I know I can’t! So I was pleasantly surprised when I first saw this.
To sign-up simply visit – https://gocardless.com/ – and register for your account. Setup all of your business details, link it to your bank account and that’s it, you’re ready to now accept Direct Debits!
Can you believe how simple that was? What’s even better is it’s simple for your client’s as well, when you’re ready to setup a client’s Direct Debit you just need to complete the details of the subscription (date, amount etc) and it will then notify your client of the Direct Debit agreement and allow them to put their bank details in and start paying you on the agreed date and for the agreed amount.
It’s such a simple system and what is a really great tool is that it can be incorporated into websites/software (if you’re into that kind of thing!) so for example when you sign up for a Zlogg Account you’ll notice our subscription payments work via ‘GoCardless’ which makes it easy for new customers to simply add their details and sign up. So if you’re a business also looking for a way of accepting Direct Debits via your site/software then it’s a great feature.
I hope that helps and if you want anymore information just contact me at info@zlogg.co.uk
