How to register as Self Employed
I know many people out there are looking to become self-employed but are a little unsure of exactly what to do in order to register themselves, and in fact it’s extremely easy!
So today I thought I’d write a quick blog just outlining what you need to do in order to be registered as Self-Employed with the HMRC.
There are now 3 ways you can register and it doesn’t matter which way you choose, they all register you exactly the same with the HMRC – it’s just down to personal preference which you choose. Below I’ll outline what you need to do for each method:
- Online
- Telephone
- Post
Online
Simply go to https://online.hmrc.gov.uk/shortforms/form/CWF1ST – fill in all your details and ‘submit’ online.
Telephone
Call 0300 200 3504 and just tell them all your details over the phone and they’ll take care of the rest.
Post
Firstly you need to download form ‘CWF1’ from – https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/self-assessment-and-national-insurance-contributions-register-if-youre-a-self-employed-sole-trader-cwf1
Then complete the form and post it to:
HMRC
National Insurance Contributions & Employer Office
Self-employment and Self Assessment Registrations
Benton Park View
NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE
NE98 1ZZ
And that’s it! That’s all you need to do in order to register yourself as Self-Employed.
I hope that helps and if you want anymore information just contact me at info@zlogg.co.uk
