An Interview with Andrew Crawford – CEO of Zlogg
I had the great privilege of being able to interview the Founder, Creator, CEO…(and any other names you can conjure up for ‘the godfather of…’) Zlogg – Cloud Accounting. We discussed his background in accounting, what inspired him to create Zlogg and where it’s going to be heading in the future. So ladies and gents, over to the interview.
Hello Sir, would you mind introducing yourself for our readers please?
Hi, my name is Andrew Crawford and I am the CEO of Zlogg
So Andrew, tell us about your background – how did you become an accountant?
Well I became an accountant…well…would you believe I didn’t actually want to be an accountant at first, I actually wanted to be a doctor! But my chemistry and physics were not very good.
It was my brother actually who said, “Listen, your results are really good in maths – why don’t you go down that route?” So I did, I pursued A-Level maths then accountancy qualifications and then I became an accountant.
I then went on to do some auditing, internal audit, external audit, consulting and then I set up my own little practice after that. I’ve continued to be an accountant and tax advisor for the last 25 years, it’s a long time but 25 years seems to go like that! (snaps fingers)
So after 25 years, what inspired you to create Zlogg?
Zlogg was born out of a neccisty to create something that was easy, accessible and affordable for self employed people and business owners who wanted to reach their goals and dreams but felt the accountancy side held them back, they struggled with it.
So I said, “ok, how can I help them achieve their goals without worrying about the stress that comes with running their business accounts?” and along came Zlogg. Zlogg was born!
How have you built and created Zlogg?
I wanted to translate the 25 years (plus) experience that I had in my head into a product and service that a business owner and self employed person could use from the go, so I wanted it to be mobile so it worked on all the deiveces, iPad, iPhone PC and Mac and I also wanted it to be accessible everywhere!
Therefore I wanted to introduce Cloud Technology into it – what did I do? I went and found developers that were familiar with that type of technology to make it easy on the front end, where most of the work is done on the back end. Zlogg is developed from the ground upwards, it’s bespoke from all the information I have in my head.
So, what exactly IS Zlogg?
Zlogg is an all encompassing accounting software system that you can use if you’re a sole-trader or a business. You do not need any other accounting software once you get Zlogg.
Zlogg allows you to send invoices to your clients, upload and capture receipts from your mobile and so much more – it can even submit your Tax Return to the HMRC! It’s easy, it’s accessible (because it’s on the cloud software) and it’s affordable.
And finally, what’s the future of Zlogg?
The future of Zlogg? How do I know!? (laughs)
That’s entirely up to the users. It’s specifically designed for the users, so where is Zlogg going to go? That’s in their hands.
I am entirely at their disposal, I want to hear feedbacks, social posts and I’ll listen to what you want and put that into a continual development program for the users.
The users will determine where Zlogg goes.
Many thanks to Andrew for taking the time to do this interview, below is the full video interview as well.
